The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali presents “Spirit of a Champion” an inspiring performance of Wushu, Barongsai (the Chinese Lion Dance), Pencak Silat as well as Capoeira on 13 August, 2011 at Nusa Indah Hall of The Bali International Convention Centre from 6pm to 7pm. An introduction class to Wushu will be available as well on the same afternoon prior to the show at 4pm to 5pm. This event is in conjunction with the UNICEF Check Out for Children fund raising program that The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali is supporting.

For 16 years UNICEF and Starwood Hotels and Resorts have been working together to raise funds for the world’s most vulnerable children – with over AUD$7M raised since the program began.

The UNICEF Check Out for Children Challenge is a staff fundraising competition between Starwood Hotels which began in 2003 - and continues to gather strong support throughout Starwood Hotels and Resorts in the Asia Pacific region.

The 2010 UNICEF Check out for Children Challenge raised over $US132,000 in the Asia Pacific region. Thanks to all our sponsors and partners. All funds raised are used to immunize thousands of children against the major childhood diseases: diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, measles, childhood tuberculosis and hepatitis B.

For the very first time, money raised in the Check Out for Children Challenge will fund UNICEF’s education projects throughout the Asia Pacific!

The impact of a child’s education is long-lasting; as children of educated mothers are 50% more likely to survive until the age of 5 than those whose mothers didn’t get a chance to go to school. Funds raised will help UNICEF;

Build and improve school facilities.
Provide quality teacher training in impoverished areas and essential school supplies.
Help children return to schools after emergencies with ‘School-in-a-box’ kits.
Provide teaching programs for ethnic minority areas.
Communicate awareness of gender and health issues in schools.

Ticket for the show is available at IDR 50.000 and for introduction to Wushu class and show is available at IDR 75.000.
